An Extremely Versatile Tool!
Naviance is an indispensable tool and I would describe my overall experience with it to have been very good. I like how beneficial this is to not only teachers but also students as well. I would reccomend for anyone who's looking to use such a tool to definitely give this a try. I think it's absolutely great and I would highly reccomend it, despite the few drawbacks with the interface.
PROSNaviance is great for any schools to use! It is extremely versatile and can be used for many different purposes. This is one thing that I like about Naviance because I can get so many things done via this one tool. For examples, Naviance can be used to directly communicate and e-mail students. Whether it be individuals or schoolwide, it can be used to reach everyone. In addition, Naviance also has tools that allow students to choose their classes as well as request letters of recommendations and has many tools to help them navigate through the college application process.
CONSWhat I liked the least about this software is that sometimes things feel a little hidden. It is only when I sometimes accidentally discover something do I realize that it exists or is there. I think that this is not a good thing and hope to see changes in the future where it's much easier to navigate around in Naviance. I think this would be extremely beneficial as an easier interface to navigate around would mean that I know exactly what I can do through Naviance.

Ease of Use for College Planning
Overall the comprehensiveness of Naviance is a great program for students to use in future planning.
PROSWhat I like most about Naviance is the ability to look at the scattergrams and see where our own students fell for each of the colleges with their applications. It is useful when looking at good match schools for students.
CONSWhat I like least about Naviance is that when students decide to not apply to college, they don't often know to take it off their list and then Naviance keeps notifying me that I have transcripts to send.

Discriminatory company with rude customer support
Horrible; unable to make a simple update and I'm horrified to think my school district is spending our tax dollars on this garbage where the support is so rude. Naviance if you are interested I called on [sensitive content hidden] at about 11:10 am EST and the person I spoke with sounded male, and did not care at all about my concerns or history with this problem.
PROSNothing. We are getting zero value out of a program that is unable to be correctly updated to reflect accurate information.
CONSMy child's guidance counselor has repeatedly tried to change their name, which is listed incorrectly, in their naviance account and has called for support with it to no avail. When I finally called to see if anyone could help me, the representative was extremely rude and hung up on me. This leaves my child with all his college information coming to an INCORRECT name which is discriminatory. Their support could have offered me some resources or ideas for how to correct the information and instead, hung up on me after I'd spent ten minutes on hold waiting for help.

Makes some things easier but some things still remain difficult
College application management, college info communication, career exploration, so much more.
PROSAs a counselor, it makes managing college information so easy. We use it to coordinate visits, inform students of important opportunities, send transcripts and materials, and so much more. I'm on Naviance every day multiple times a day and to be honest I don't know what I would do without it.
CONSFirst, it's confusing at times to use effectively. I am very tech savvy so it's not as much of an issue for me but older colleagues routinely struggle with it. Second, there are problems that persist from year to year with Common App integration which is a huge part of our job.

Simplifies the College Admissions Process
My overall experience with Naviance has been somewhat positive and I would recommend for others to give it a try if it suits their needs for their educational program.
PROSNaviance is a great tool that really simplifies the college admissions process for students. Since Naviance can be liked with CommonApp, materials such as letters of recommendation can easily be sent through Naviance as well as materials from guidance counselors.
CONSWhat I like the least about Naviance is that it has now turned entirely into a management tool for college applications rather than anything else. Before, there were more options such as that of allowing students to choose their future courses on Naviance. I don't think getting rid of some of these features was a good idea.

Essential But Still A Lot Left Desired
Naviance has been essential for our students and staff in terms of post-secondary planning. The user-interface for school staff and administration could use updating. Tech support and the user forums are very helpful when navigating issues.
PROSNaviance is essential for any secondary school looking to connect students with college/career readiness initiatives, provide access to scholarships, or submit post-secondary application documents. It provides a single platform for all that is post-secondary planning. It is a great resource for teachers to complete college recommendations, students to explore scholarships, compare colleges, and submit applications.
CONSThe UI for school staff/administration is extremely difficult to navigate and is not user-friendly. For how much business Hobsons conducts, you would think that the platform would be more intuitive and user-friendly. Data analytics are really lacking as well as the simple form/survey creation. Every school must have this, however, there is still a lot left to be desired in terms of system functionality.

Less Than Impressive
Sadly, I cannot name any "like" about this software.
CONSNaviance is known as a "One-Stop Shop" for high school counseling services. However, they are selling services/products (college searches, college application services, scholarship searches, career interest surveys, etc.) that schools in Georgia can receive free of charge from other entities. Naviance is not user-friendly, nor is the interface appealing to the eye. For example, typically students nor staff require training to complete college applications via the Common Application until required to complete Common App via Naviance. Naviance customer service has been disappointing as during the course of 2 1/2 years three different trainers have promised to send school counselors "1-pagers" regarding how to utilize various activities on Naviance but none have followed through on providing the actual support materials. According to training provided, Naviance does offer a service to track where students eventually end up attending college. However, according to Naviance trainers this information is not researched by Naviance but collected from a clearinghouse. Schools/school systems can purchase this service, as well as Parchment services, without obtaining them through Naviance.

A good attempt, but not enough.
Now that I know this software, I recognize all that it can do for me. I feel like it does a few things well, but leaves a lot to be desired.
CONSEverything about it, from the functionality to the interface, feels like it's stuck in the past and not moving forward. Like even their customer service - most times I get a response and my request completed in a timely manner, but then there are sometime when I am waiting weeks for implementation. I'm sure there is more behind the scenes that I could never fully understand, but I also feel like I shouldn't have to feel that way.

Not what it used to be before
I encourage current users to consider an alternative product.
PROSThe ease of use and ability to work well with Common App via eDocs. Pricing was fair for the size of the school
CONSCustomer service is next to none. They are quitting the international scene and did so with little notice leaving many schools scrambling to find an alternative solution. From what I've learned, they are having problems with their domestic market as well - implementing changes with no notice and leaving users frustrated at the lack of communication.

User-Friendliness?
The software, when understanding how to use it, really helps with the college application process. It makes it easy to send documents to schools.
CONSIt doesn't have a user-friendly approach to it. I only know how to navigate the basics and I feel there's so much more to be offered if there was an approach to make the platform simpler for those who are not tech savvy.

Naviance Review
Overall, was a great took for our students.
PROSI really enjoyed that it allowed students to explore different career options and school choices. It was a great way for students to apply to colleges and share their steps with the guidance counselors along the way.
CONSThe exploration tabs were not the easiest or most appealing for students to use. This turned them away from actually using those tabs.

Great for college applications
Naviance has made my college recommendation process very easy. I write so many recommendations each year, and the ability to compile everything into one place has really helped.
PROSI like how students can add teachers to the recommenders section for colleges within the platform, and when the teacher signs in, they can see all of the student’s information. I like how Naviance can be integrated into single sign-on with whatever school system’s learning management system they have selected. I also like how the one recommendation will be sent to all colleges, and that it integrates easily with common app.
CONSThere are many options where only the counselor will receive the information or they have to go in and change the setting for the teachers to easily access parts of the platform.

Somewhat useless
Poor.
PROSIt provides a convenient way to access necessary information to submit to schools.
CONS1. NO customer service for parents or students.2. Passwords reset often. The website WILL NOT allow a reset. Only the school can reset and if they are gone for summer or whatever you are out of luck. This makes Naviance useless. 3. Transcripts need to be requested from this site.

Great for Students
My overall experience with Naviance has been very positive and I think it really is a great tool that should be used more often.
PROSNaviance is a really great tool for students as it really simplifies things such as the college admissions process. It no longer becomes as daunting once school officials send their documents through Naviance, with all being left to be done is then from the students' part.
CONSWhat I liked the least about this software is that it can take some time for changes made on applications to be reflected on Naviance, or vice versa. This can be a little frustrating as there's no telling how long it may take for the updates to occcur.

Should have more features built in
We are still getting the program up and running but our trainer seems to need some training herself. She was not able to answer common questions, like how do students access the program from PowerSchool.
PROSThis software has a lot to offer for students.
CONSThere are a lot of features that should already be in the program, rather than us having to add everything, like state standards, manually.
Reason for choosing Naviance
It is supposed to be integrated with PowerSchool, which we already have.
Reasons for switching to Naviance

A Great Tool!
My overall experience with Naviance has been very positive and I'd recommend for others to see if this would be a good organizational need for them as well.
PROSNaviance is a really great tool that school administrators can use to help their students with managing different documents, most importantly including letters of recommendation. This was essential in being able to have an online platform where the documents and letters of recommendations for students can be uploaded all into one place.
CONSNaviance would definitely benefit from having some new updates to give it a new look. Everything can seem a little hidden at times behind tabs and so I'd love to see some new updates in the near future.

Naviance is not the answer
It doesn't offer a place to actually write the recommendation... one has to upload a letter. Then, it was very particular in what format the letter must be in in order to upload it.
PROSWell, this was the first time teachers were asked to use technology for writing students' college recommendations.
CONSNot very user friendly... writing a recommendation shouldn't be so difficult.

Disappointed
I have to YouTube EVERYTHING because this program is one of the worst I have seen as far as user friendly. NO help area, not easy to figure out stuff and very frustrating to say the least. I finally found a number to call only to be told closed because of the holiday; Mother's Day. It's the Friday before. I HATE the fact that my son's school uses this program and it's the only way to get a transcript sent. I would not recommend this program to anyone until they become lots more user friendly.
PROSIt is a great idea to have everything in one area to access information.
CONSSadly the entire program. No where to ask for assistance or help or how to contact them.
