A platform that supported my career journey in Canada

5

Indeed for Employers played a very important role in my journey after moving to Canada from India. I came here as a physiotherapist but had no local network or clear direction on how to restart my career. In the beginning, I used Indeed daily to search for any job opportunities and it helped me find my first job as a fashion associate at Walmart. Later, I continued using it to look for physiotherapy-related roles and eventually secured a clinic job, which became my first step back into my profession. Even when the job was far from home, I kept applying through Indeed and later found a hospital job as well. It became a constant support throughout my career rebuilding journey in Canada.

Functionality

Pros:

Indeed is very helpful for newcomers because it provides a large number of job opportunities across different fields. It is easy to use, allows quick applications, and does not require a strong professional network to get started. It helped me find both survival jobs and professional roles, which was very important during my transition.

Cons:

The platform can sometimes feel overwhelming due to too many job listings, and it is not always easy to filter specific regulated profession jobs like physiotherapy. Some postings are outdated or repetitive, and it requires a lot of time and patience to find the right opportunity.

Great Candidate Reach and Matching; Pricing Options Need Improvement

4

Overall, Indeed remains one of the strongest recruiting platforms available and is an important part of my hiring strategy. Its broad reach and applicant matching capabilities make it highly effective, but improvements to the pricing structure would significantly enhance the employer experience.

Ratings Breakdown

5

Functionality

Pros:

Indeed has become one of my go-to recruiting platforms because of its large candidate pool, ease of use, and effective applicant matching technology. The platform does a good job of identifying candidates whose experience aligns with job requirements, which helps streamline the recruiting process and saves valuable time when filling positions. I also appreciate how simple it is to create and manage job postings, review applicants, and communicate with candidates. The dashboard is intuitive, making it easy to track recruiting activity and monitor posting performance.

Cons:

My biggest frustration with Indeed is the pay-per-click pricing model. While I understand the value of increasing job visibility, paying for clicks that don't result in qualified applicants can become expensive and difficult to justify. I would much prefer a pay-per-applicant model, even at a higher cost per candidate, because it would provide greater transparency and a clearer return on investment. Paying for qualified applicants rather than random clicks would make budgeting and recruiting outcomes much more predictable.

Reasons for choosing Indeed for Employers

Better candidate pool, More responsive candidates and better customization of job posting

Reasons for switching to Indeed for Employers

ZipRecruiter sucked. The candidate pool wasn’t good and the resources didn’t even compare to Indeed

Indeed - Nothing else like it! But a slight learning curve

4

We have been posting to Indeed for 18 months consecutively for one of my companies. We repost sometimes, but for the most part we create new postings for maximizing views. We have paid for postings, and posted for free. Our experience with using Indeed itself has been good. Once we get the hang of using the Employer Portal it's definitely the best place to post for jobs.

5

Functionality

Pros:

Value for money. This is also where most people look for jobs, so posting to Indeed will get us the most possible views, vs posting on Craigslist or Facebook for example.

Cons:

Quality of candidates can be quite hit or miss. Lots of people applying for jobs who aren't based in the country even though we specifically mention only those within Canada. I find that the Indeed portal isn't very intuitive and just takes a minute to find my way around. This wouldn't stop me using Indeed at all as it's still the best for job postings.

Reasons for switching to Indeed for Employers

Craigslist did not return anywhere near the number of applicants and cost far more.

Reliable hiring pipeline, just budget for sponsored posts

4

ai insights icon chrome icon google docs icon Indeed has become a core part of our hiring process, mainly because of sheer reach. When we need to fill positions quickly it's hard to beat the volume of traffic coming through. There are some frustrations around applicant quality and sponsored post costs, but for a nonprofit needing to staff retail locations consistently, it's proven itself to be one of the more dependable tools we use.

3

Functionality

Pros:

Posting job openings on Indeed gets us a much wider reach than relying on word of mouth or our own careers page alone. For retail and warehouse positions especially, the volume of applicants coming through is significant. The employer dashboard makes it easy to track who's applied, screen resumes quickly, and message candidates directly without things getting lost in email back and forth. For high turnover roles it's honestly become one of our most reliable pipelines for filling positions fast.

Cons:

The quality of applicants can be hit or miss. A lot of people apply with one click without really reading the job description, so you end up sorting through a fair number of candidates who clearly aren't a fit. Sponsored posts can get pricey if you're trying to boost visibility for a role, and it's not always obvious you're getting proportional value for what you're spending. Minor gripes overall, but worth factoring into the budget if you're posting frequently.
