At $170 a year or $16 a month, this plan unlocks a host of automation features such as late payment reminders and auto-import and auto-merge of bank transactions. \*\*Pros:\*\* - \*\*Automated transaction import:\*\* Connect your bank accounts and credit cards to automatically import and categorize transactions. - \*\*Receipt scanning:\*\* Capture and organize receipts using Wave's mobile app and OCR technology. - \*\*Discounted payment processing:\*\* Benefit from reduced transaction fees when accepting online payments from your customers. \*\*Cons:\*\* - \*\*Subscription cost:\*\* The monthly or annual subscription fee may not fit every business's budget. - \*\*Learning curve:\*\* With more advanced features comes a slightly steeper learning curve compared to the Starter Plan. - \*\*Limited users:\*\* The Pro Plan may not be suitable for larger teams that require multiple user accounts. \_\_Add-ons and Optional Services\_\_ Wave offers a range of optional add-ons and services to cater to the unique needs of your business. Whether you're just starting out or looking to scale your operations, Wave's flexible pricing and powerful features make it a top choice for managing your finances. \_\_Conclusion\_\_ Wave provides flexible options designed to cater to businesses of various sizes and financial management needs. - \*\*For freelancers and micro-businesses:\*\* The Starter Plan is an ideal choice, offering a robust set of features at no cost. This plan allows users to create unlimited invoices and estimates and manage their cash flow without any financial commitment. However, as the business grows, the limitations of the free plan may become apparent, necessitating an upgrade. - \*\*For small to medium-sized businesses:\*\* The Pro Plan is a comprehensive solution that offers advanced features such as automatic bank transaction imports, receipt capture, and late payment reminders. The monthly or annual subscription fee is justified by the time-saving automation and the discounted online payment processing rates. This plan is perfect for businesses looking to streamline their financial management processes and scale their operations. When deciding on a plan, businesses should carefully assess their current financial management needs, projected growth, and budget. By aligning these factors with the appropriate pricing plan, a business can optimize its financial efficiency and lay a strong foundation for future success. It's Been Great for My Business!

4

It's been a great software to get me started in my business and it's easy for my clients to navigate invoices and payments. That is a win! I am able to track my spending with categories, as well, and that makes it easier to do my taxes at the end of each year.

Pros:

I use Wave for my accounting and invoicing software. It's super affordable and easy to implement, which was a great starting point when I launched my business! The customer support has always been helpful when I've needed it. The option to create recurring invoices has been amazing, as well as the reports I can pull at the end of each year. Super helpful!

Cons:

The auto-import for my bank transactions has not been working for a while, and although Wave Customer Support did what they could, I wish this could be more easily resolved. It's been a bit tedious having to manually import them. I also think that if I'm paying for a Pro subscription, I should have fewer fees being taken out. (I canceled the Pro subscription before the year was up.) Furthermore, the receipt uploading is great except that it creates a new transaction. It'd be nice if it could match the receipt with the transaction, since I will later import all transactions from the bank into Wave and that will cause duplicates.

Reasons for choosing Wave

Cheaper and easier to use as I was starting my business.

Pros:

Most everything is free so it is a great value. The price of payment processing is comparable to other services. The invoices and auto invoices work quite well and look nice and it is easy for my customers to pay.

Cons:

The most annoying thing is the invoice names especially for auto invoices. I use what was done for invoice names and numbers rather than just a number. So it now makes the next invoice number as whatever the last invoice name was and just add one to it so they don't make sense so I have to manually make a name.

Reasons for choosing Wave

Price was one of the main things and heard some not so great things about quickbooks the online version.

Functionality

Pros:

I first started using Wave after trying to learn Quickbooks and finding it frustrating and way too complicated for my small, service-bases business. Wave was free at the time, and it was far more intuitive. I had a couple of questions that were easily answered by searching through Wave's online resources. I'm not a professional bookkeeper, and I felt way more confident using Wave than I did using Quickbooks. I've kept using it for years even after there was a cost to do so because it was definitely worth it. It continues to be easy to use, and now that I have a part time bookkeeper who helps me out, it lets us collaborate very well.

Cons:

Wave's integration with my bank has not always worked effectively, and that has caused some problems. I'm not clear on whether it's my bank or Wave that's the issue, but a couple of times, the integration stopped working then started working again, and this resulted in some duplicate entries that had to be cleared out. It was simple enough to fix but irritating.

Reasons for choosing Wave

Wave was far easier to use than Quickbooks.

Reasons for switching to Wave

Kashoo raised their prices a ridiculous amount.

Pros:

What I like most about wave is how it's helped me organize my sole-proprietor finances without costing me anything. I did try the receipt scanning feature which is less than$10 a month, and enjoyed it, but don't need it at the moment. The invoices are super professional and at the end of the month I download the data and categorize it as needed. I like how I can ask to consult a bookkeeper at any given time!

Cons:

What I like least is that I can't select multiple invoices to mark as paid or duplicate at once. This slows me down when I'm invoicing or reconciling accounts.

Wave underwent a merger/acquisition over the summer in 2025 that completely ruined their operations. They messed up our tax reporting and left us with outstanding taxes due. Customer service was not helpful.

Pros:

What I liked about wave the most would be the pricing, it seemed I could easily figure things out. Also was easily able to connect the bank to the software.

Cons:

What I like the least about the wave software was it wasn't very good for what I needed it for as far as inventory tracking would go.

## Wave FAQs

- How much is Wave per month?

Wave offers a free plan and a paid plan that costs $16 per month when billed monthly, or $170 per year when billed annually. The Starter plan is free and comes with many features, such as the ability to create unlimited estimates and invoices, manage cash flow, and accept online payments. The paid version has these features plus the ability to automatically import and merge bank transactions, digitally capture unlimited receipts, track expenses, and more.

- Does Wave connect to your bank account?

Yes, Wave connects to your bank account if you use the paid version. You also have the option of automatically integrating transaction data with your Wave app. In this way, you can save time when it comes to syncing your Wave data with that of your bank account.

- How trustworthy is Wave?

Wave is considered very trustworthy because it uses many of the security features that banks use to protect users’ data. For example, Wave encrypts sensitive information, so eavesdropping attackers can’t steal it. It also gives users backup systems they can use to restore vital data if there’s an outage or disaster.

- Can you write checks with Wave Accounting?

Wave doesn’t have a feature that enables you to write or print checks, but you can integrate Wave with a third-party check-writing service. This gives you the ability to generate checks using payroll or invoice data from within Wave, sending the data directly to the check-writing service.

- Can I withdraw money from Wave?

No, you can’t withdraw money from Wave because it’s not a bank. It’s a tool to help you manage your finances. Even though Wave keeps track of transactions, it doesn’t hold money for you. However, Wave can record withdrawals from your bank.
