A proven, reliable programme with excellent functionality

I've used Microsoft Word in countless roles for over two decades and have always been pleased with the experience it provides. Intuitive for beginners but with a bit of extra delving and study, the programme offers lots of useful advanced functions.

PROS

Microsoft Word is very intuitive to use and if you should struggle with any aspect of it use, the help function is comprehensive and easy to use. The huge range of templates available and the thorough spelling/grammar checks mean that anyone can produce professional looking documents. Mail merge is very easy to use and very useful for large scale communications. Frequent updates mean that functions and user experience are continually improving.

CONS

Microsoft office is quite expensive, yet you do get good value for money. The interface is a bit dated - but if it ain't broke, why fix it?

Reason for choosing Microsoft Word

Additional functionality and unrivalled reputation for reliability.

Most IMPORTANT tool in my huge Software toolbox?

I literally couldn't imagine my professional life without Microsoft Word.

PROS

Microsoft Word was already excellent when I started using it almost 40 years ago surprisingly it still continues to get even better and more powerful for every day that goes by I couldn't imagine my life without it.

CONS

When it comes to Microsoft Word I don't have much to complain about. However, I have to say if there's one thing I feel could be better it's the good old ribbon interface. It's just getting a little bit crowded with all its tools and sometimes it's hard to find the one I'm looking for. Thanks, Microsoft!

Reason for choosing Microsoft Word

Complete shift in ecosystems from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365.

Reasons for switching to Microsoft Word

It was so long ago that I can hardly remember it, but I 'm fairly certain it was my teachers's decision because n my freshman year of high school in the early 90s.

Great word processor

I use Word on a daily basis to verify documents. I use track changes, the option which really saves my time and makes my work easier. I highly recommend the app!

PROS

Modern versions of Microsoft Word are simply amazing. They feel light and clean. There is a plethora of options and functions neatly organised and easily accessible. there are a lot of resources to browse when you need help.

CONS

I do not really like Microsoft support system. Whenever you speak to the agents they always tell you the same thing, sometimes completely irrelevant and it is much easier to find support on your own online.

Reasons for switching to Microsoft Word

Pages seems too simple. Options are hidden in such a way that it is difficult to find them.

Microsoft Word for Web Developers

PROS

It is the best document writing software. Been using it for years and it amazed me when I used it properly for my university thesis. The impressive feature it has is that you can create your own styles before starting to write a document and then just enter it and it will style all of your headings and different text types with the initial styling method.

CONS

Sometimes the drag and dropping images feature does not work properly and it glitches and moves blocks of text.

Reasons for switching to Microsoft Word

Need an offline option with more functionalities

Word is easy!

It’s just so easy to use. I like that I can get synonyms easily and spell check. It works just like an old fashioned computer but rolled into this one program. Use it everyday.

PROS

Been using it for years. I use it for every document I write. Easy to email to anyone and include as an attachment. It’s my go to.

CONS

Don’t have much they could do differently.

Reason for choosing Microsoft Word

I’m so used to using Word. It’s so easy. I seem to prefer it over the google docs. I tend to use google for other reasons like the google drive and calendar.

Document Editing with Microsoft Word

PROS

Microsoft Word is the best document (text) editing tool in the world. It has many features that others don't and also it is the most popular among the others.

CONS

One thing that I don't like about Microsoft Word is it because we have to use Windows and also have the license for Microsoft 365 as well. So we have to pay it first

Reasons for switching to Microsoft Word

I was using WPS Office because it's free unlike Microsoft Word that need to be bought first (license).

Experience with Microsoft Word

We use it a lot for the generation of software documentation as well as projects. It has helped us to manage a standard that represents us as a company before our clients.

PROS

Over time, the interface has improved a lot, making it much easier to write documents professionally. In addition to the customization capacity that it has, it helps a lot to have it as needed. A very useful functionality that it has is the generation of content such as indexes or bibliographies.

CONS

The management of space between lines or within the fields of a table is sometimes not clear, preventing one from modifying it, since you do not know what element is causing the space to be different with other lines. The checker is not as efficient when it comes to omitting terms.

Reason for choosing Microsoft Word

The presentations and functionality with which it counts.

Reasons for switching to Microsoft Word

The handling of documents in Word is much more complete than in Open Office. In addition, it has more features.

Preferred product

MS word has helped us produce professional documents that are organized and clear. It has helped us with organizing and record keeping. Overall it helps us convey to others that we are a serious and professional business.

PROS

This is my preferred product. It has advanced features and can keep up with our growing needs, especially when integrated with other Microsoft products (which are all great). Microsoft word has so many available features and options. I've yet to need something that Word did not offer. It has been around for a long time. I'm very familiar with it, infact I've been using it since elementary school.

CONS

Price... There are so many great products that integrate with MS word, however all of them can be expensive. Word isn't really complete without these other products. For example you need a place to store the documents you create with Word. You'll then need to pay for one drive. If you want to make a presentation using these documents or files you've stored, you'll need to pay for PowerPoint.. I also wish that the offline accessibility was better.

Reason for choosing Microsoft Word

Better product by far. The only reason I ever use a word alternative is cost.

Microsoft Word for Critical Analyses

I am able to access and grade and return any student work and share it with my superiors.

PROS

Microsoft Word has been a favorite of mine ever since 2010. I love the relativelty newly added OneDrive feature and the formatting features are unmatched by Microsoft Word's competitors. I love how all my documents can be stored without a second thought into discrete folders and I can seperate personal and workplace files safely and neatly. I also love the new logo and Microsoft Word is constantly updating to include more advanced features by the year. I do not know where I would be without Word.

CONS

I do not like how I need to be connected to the internet to access OneDrive, but other than that, no complaints here.

Reasons for switching to Microsoft Word

Google Docs has a nasty habit of reformatting files. We made the switch when we noticed that our student resumes were being extended to 2 pages instead of 1 with some room.

Microsoft Word is GREAT !

Its a great program to use, definitely worth checking out and investing in. Would highly recommend

PROS

The system makes your work flow much easier than without it. I highly recommend implementing into any companies system. The compatibility that this has with other office programs is so valuable and we would be lost without it ! May seem silly but the spell check is a lifesaver !

CONS

Not a big fan of the split screen view , even when attempting to put it back onto 1 page , it still eventually splits even though the reader is selected to single page. The formatting could use some update so it is easier to find the correct format as there are SO many to choose from.

Reason for choosing Microsoft Word

Love the ease in which this program can be used and how many options it has to use. Once you get comfortable with using it , it can open a whole new world for you and your workflow

My way with MS Word

In Hungary, but I reckon in other nations as well, MS Word is the leader, but no the only sw. used to create a "Word" file we do not even call them "documents", "text files", that is how Word sw. became a part of our life. MS Word is on the market for nearly 40 years, one of the most widely-can-be-used sw. on the market and I believe the best text editor right now. Happy to have it, I am using Office kit from my elementary school days and will be using still in the future. There are some rival to MS Word, but it is still the leader, MS has the intention, money, manpower to make it better, but it needs to listen and hear the sound of its users to give the users what they need and want.

PROS

A lot of training materials, examples, training tasks are available, both online (videos, PDFs, descriptions) and "offline", I mean books, leaflets, notes) to get the potential out of MS Word. You can have it for free, if you are a student, can buy even genuine key for a very low price, MS "World" and some sw. are available with an MS account for free, with great functionality. Word and MS Office package is introduced in Hungary a nation-level. In the governmental offices, employees use Office daily, in the school Office package is being taught to the kids from elementary school to uni. Companies from every sector are using Word daily to have they matters solved, it is indeed a leader in doc. handling. The arsenal what Word so as now the other Office family members are having, a little too much for one single user, you simply do not use "every" function, like web interfaces, that are also supported in some level. Easy to install, a little complex to customise due to the lot of options, can work with databases, can insert files to docs. is a great function, having a password to After you get to know to sw. and its its UI, you will get along, but needs practice, patience. Lot of 3rd party developers are there, creating toolkits, add-ons to Word making it even better.

CONS

There is an option to share a document and simultaneously edit it, this function needs polishing so as the online version and the Professional / O365 versions. Developing a program to use Word's resources may be not that easy at first, its programming language could be better. Having a password to protect you doc. is not the best, not that hard to crack it sometimes. Sometimes bugs may appear, like reseting a font to the "inherited" one, sometimes crashes, slow loading. Consuming RAM, hard drive could be better. On the mobile apps world, Word maybe not the best or the leader, but the sw. get better over time Conversion between other text file types, reading, opening, editing PDFs sometimes not the good.. When moving from one network or VPN to another, it tends to not be able to save your work. Creating an e-mailing list, or reading out data from Ms Excel and have them printed for envelopes are a good feature so as having forms and can be combined with databases.

Most Versatile software for documents

It is the number one Word editing software in the world with revolutionary. With a bit of price and features jugglery, it can improve its share in the market.

PROS

1. MS Word is the first option that comes to mind and is synonymous with "Document." From the old days of the MS-DOS operating system with WordStar, MS-Word has been the first choice for countless users globally. 2. There are so many features that you may discover something new every time you delve deeper to learn more. Features like Mail Merge, Macros, Smart Art, Design Templates, Tracking Changes, Citations, and so on are revolutionary. 3. With access to uninterrupted internet with cloud storage, features like autosave have become a reality. You can switch it off if you want. 4. When you consider MS word for writing, editing, printing, or any document management activity, customization is the keyword. 5. It is well integrated with other components of MS office suite, aka office 365, letting you take full benefits of uniform features available across the board. 6. It is suitable for individuals or large teams alike. You can customize the features to suit small or large groups using ribbon or quick access toolbar or changing the options and settings. Compatibility mode ensures that it also works for people who cannot or don't want to upgrade to the latest. 7. The help tool is super exhaustive, with endless possibilities for finding out how to use a specific feature or how to troubleshoot. You can get help online or offline with detailed instructions. 8. Different features and commands are neatly organized into sections and subsections with convenient shortcuts and right-clic

CONS

1. Of late, MS Word is getting intense competition from Google docs. Most of the available features in MS Word are for free on the Google Docs platform. But for office 365, you need to pay a hefty amount. Bundling ensures that you cannot buy only MS Word. Even if you can, it will be expensive, especially when Google gives everything free. 2. Similarly, several open-source projects offer free service vis-a-vis paid features of MS Word. It needs to become more affordable, keeping in mind the intense competition. 3. There are several things MS Word cannot provide that Adobe PDF offers. Some features of MS Word need an overhaul. 4. It isn't easy to learn some advanced features and needs specialized training. The help section needs to work extra hours to improve on that aspect. 5. There are some backward compatibility issues. 6. Most sites offer easy ways to create websites, but one needs to struggle to do so on MS Word. 7. At times, it crashes without saving your stuff. 8. Translation, grammar, and spelling features are way behind compared to online free tools like Google and Grammarly. 9. Macros are prone to viruses. 10. Some Free Online templates are lousy.

Mature feature rich Word Processor that is still very relevant

PROS

- Collaboration tools shared internally & externally and integrated with Windows task bar, OneDrive (local synch of shared filestore), @mention comments to assign internal tasks - Simple to use with available powerful tools such as form fields, excellent table support, even mail merge to Outlook email - Powerful track changes & review - Send as PDF email: Simple & use it all the time (instead of saving as PDF, then sending PDF).

CONS

There is some obvious innovation that is long overdue. - Tables that can easily perform functions like Excel (the feature exists, it's just clunky to implement) - Mail merge to Outlook email is incredibly powerful & could be streamlined to be a must use feature for individualized, but "mass" emailing small groups. - Templates (.dot) files & sharing of templates within an organization needs a UX & feature revamp - Built in easy Document Signing features

Microsoft Word - The Definitive Platform For Writing

Microsoft word is an extremely intuitive, easy-to-use, straightforward but extremely versatile platform for creating documents, or writing text. Microsoft word is a priceless tool and makes our work so much easier, and is irreplaceable in my day-to-day work life. It is leaps and bounds beyond other platforms such as text edit and the best writing application on the market.

PROS

The editor built-in to Microsoft word is fantastic at spotting any grammar errors, or convoluted sentences in my work emails. My school I work at had Word pre-built into all the laptops, simply because it is so useful and integral for every aspect of the job. The grammar checker is an invaluable asset in marking students’ essays, and also for producing resources for the students too. In addition, for those students with special needs, Microsoft Word is unbelievably helpful, as they can type up their work during exams instead of writing it out. I love word’s simplicity, visually appealing and intuitive UI, as well as it’s impressive formatting capabilities, making worksheets for the students beautiful.

CONS

I wish Microsoft word had a better grammar editor, as although it is perfect for grammar errors, it is still quite basic for offering suggestions and sometimes makes the writing clunky and with the wrong tone. In addition, it can be sometimes difficult to use the insert or design features, due to them being rather complex and taking a few weeks to master.

Word Simplifies Documents

We solve many problems with Word, particularly sending out customer-facing documentation. Templates make it easy to create pleasing documents without investing hours of company time into document editing.

PROS

Microsoft word is the word processing solution we've been looking for throughout all the years. They are a leader and have been a leader in this space in the industry for a long time for excellent reason. Microsoft Word makes document creation and editing straightforward. When creating a document, I can select from various templates to get my document started. If it's just a simple word document for reference, I'll use a blank template. If it's something more professional that I am sending out to a client, I'll use one of the pre-formatted professional template options. Word makes this simple by showing a thumbnail preview of the different options to select the style that I prefer for the given scenario. Word also makes it easy to edit a document with more than one involved party. It's easy to read and leave comments for other users to review at their leisure. Having this option is particularly helpful when there is a large group of individuals involved in a given project.

CONS

Word can sometimes be frustrating when there are multiple invested parties trying to edit at the same time. The sister product, Microsoft Teams, helps to simplify this issue by allowing real-time editing of the same document by multiple parties, directly competing with Google Docs. I highly recommend this feature to combat the frustrations of working together on a single form. Imbedding pictures is also a challenge with Word, particularly with the formatting. Adding an image can make the arrangement "jump" in unpredictable directions, confusing the entire document.

Microsoft Word -- An Oldie but Goodie

Microsoft Word has been around for a long time for business and personal use, and for good reason. Whether you’re an executive at a Fortune 500 company, a budding blogger and influencer, or a student, Microsoft Word will be your one-stop shop for all your writing needs.

PROS

Microsoft Word has an abundant number of features to help you with all your writing needs. Ease of Use – Word has a very simple and user-friendly interface that includes a strong spell checker and suggestion system. Editing is also easy in this program. Microsoft Word offers everything from basic edits to more advanced features for those who need them, such as “Track Changes” which allows you to keep track of changes in large documents. Customizability – Strong control over formatting your documents into virtually any way you need. Additionally, there are a wealth of templates available (through Microsoft and online from other users) to make your document look as professional as possible. Features – It’s more than the writing software itself, which is very intuitive. It’s all the additional features that Microsoft provides such as easy sync with all your other office programs, as well as other people using Microsoft Word. Also, as a bonus, you can use Microsoft Word on your phones and tablets.

CONS

Compatibility – From time to time, you’ll run into some formatting issues when you copy texts over from other sources. Fortunately, re-formatting your files is relativity easy, though it could still be a minor headache.

Microsoft Word Review 2023

It has been my go-to word processing software for many years, providing a reliable and feature-rich environment for creating and editing documents. The user-friendly interface, extensive functionality, and integration with other Microsoft Office tools have consistently supported my productivity and professional communication needs.

PROS

There are several aspects of Microsoft Word that I particularly appreciate. Firstly, its extensive range of formatting options allows me to create professional and visually appealing documents. Secondly, the spell-check and grammar-check features help ensure accuracy and improve the overall quality of my writing. Lastly, the seamless integration with other Microsoft Office applications makes it convenient to collaborate and share documents across different platforms.

CONS

While Microsoft Word is a powerful word processing tool, there are a few aspects that could be improved. Firstly, the program can sometimes be resource-intensive and slow down on older or less powerful computers, which can be frustrating. Secondly, the complexity of some advanced features, such as mail merge or document automation, may require additional effort to master. Lastly, although the auto-save function is helpful, occasional crashes or unexpected closures can result in data loss if changes haven't been saved manually.

A few minor issues like ribbon size too large but a well-rounded editor

LaTex might be better for some things and free ... but at leaset Microsoft Word is more user friendly for non-programmers. I actually know a decent amount of programming but learning any new language or style (like Latex) just takes some time matter how good one is with programming. Overall, Microsoft Word is a great product, widely used and I would recommend the purchase of MS Office.

PROS

Microsoft Word is a great software because I can write smoothly easily and normally. Most general papers and even many documents have the style that Microsoft word presents. There is a ton of backup functionality for formatting and the GUI interface for formatting is rather straightforward.

CONS

My number one thing is that my laptop has a 13" screen and the top ribbon is too large. (total top and bottom combined is about 35% of the screen with the ruler showing). You can customize what is on the ribbon in the settings but that doesn't auto compress the ribbon size. You could shrink the ribbon down completely but then it is harder to format. The icons are larger than they need to be so I fell like it could be smaller. I am on windows - there are display settings which will affect all those icons and I can have more viewable room that way - but changing that windows settings affects other apps too which I don't want. It seems there is away to write in a rather lengthy macro (code) into Microsoft word to modify this but that is also rather lengthy. ...There are a few other minor issues about not being able to format things easily/well, but it has been improving over the years.
