### About Missive

Missive is a collaborative email client for teams that share responsibility for the same inboxes: support@, sales@, tenants@, and the client-facing addresses more than one person has to answer.

It fits teams of roughly 5 to 60 people, and shows up most often in property management, maintenance and field services, accounting and tax practices, law firms, logistics, e-commerce, and construction.

The problem it solves sounds the same everywhere. One inbox, several people, and no way to tell who has what. Teams cope by reading every message to work out which ones are theirs. One operations lead described colour-coding every email in the shared inbox by teammate, yellow for one person, red for another, until it stopped being maintainable. It works until volume rises, and then things get missed. Usually the team doesn't catch it first. The client does, by writing again to ask why nobody has replied.

Missive fixes that by making ownership visible. Assign a conversation and everyone can see who has it. Comment inside the thread to ask a teammate something without forwarding the email or moving the discussion to Slack, which is the feature distributed teams tend to name first. Draft a re...

ply together in real time. Build rules that route messages to the right person automatically, usually by client domain. Your email stays in Gmail, Outlook, or any IMAP provider, so nobody migrates mailboxes or shares a password. There's also a built-in AI assistant that searches your inbox, checks your calendar, looks up contacts, and drafts replies in your voice, plus connections to Notion, Linear, Attio, HubSpot, and Stripe for pulling client context into the thread. Beyond email, Missive handles SMS, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and live chat. Worth knowing before you shortlist. Missive is a shared inbox, not a ticketing system. No ticket numbers, no SLA timers, no escalation tiers, no customer knowledge base. Teams who have tried running client email out of a help desk usually describe the same mismatch, and the honest answer from those vendors is that they are a ticketing platform, not an email platform. Missive is the other choice. Reporting is deliberately light: you get reply times and volume, not deep analytics. Missive is SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliant. Support comes by chat and email from the team that builds the product, with a full help center, live onboarding sessions, and a directory of certified partners. Used by 6,000+ businesses daily.

### Effective tool for managing both payables and receivables

We have been using Missive for our combined AP and AR operations for nearly eight months. It has significantly improved organization compared to our previous setup, which relied on multiple individual email accounts and forwarded messages.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Managing both accounts payable and receivable requires handling vendor payments and client collections simultaneously. Missive makes this much easier by allowing us to create separate shared inboxes for AP and AR, all within a single platform.

#### Cons

It would be more effective with stronger integration capabilities with ERP systems. Currently, we need to manually update payment systems after email communications.

### Billing process way more organized now

We started using Missive about seven months ago and our billing work runs way smoother now. Before, client billing emails were all over the place in everyone's personal inboxes and we'd sometimes give clients conflicting info about the same invoice. Now everyone sees the same stuff and our answers are consistent.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I love being able to mark conversations as done once invoices are settled - keeps our workspace tidy. Automatic rules keep our workflow organized without doing it manually. Templates for common billing stuff (payment confirmations, late fee explanations, payment plans) have cut my response time in half.

#### Cons

It would be very helpful to have enhanced filtering and sorting options within the system, particularly for invoice amounts, due dates, payment dates, and outstanding balances. Improved filters would make it easier to review transactions, track pending invoices, and identify payment trends efficiently. Additional features such as customizable date ranges, multi-condition filtering, and quick search functionality would significantly improve day-to-day accounting operations. These improvements would also help during reconciliations, month-end closing, and audit preparation by reducing manual effort and saving time. Overall, more flexible filtering capabilities would improve accuracy, reporting efficiency, and the overall user experience for managing invoices and payments.

A great resource when working with many different types of email platforms and communication platforms.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

My favourite part of missive was that we were able to integrate other programs and platforms into our Missive. Giving us more abilities than if we were just using one program.

#### Cons

Because of the fact that we were integrate other platforms into our Missive use we would sometimes run into troubles if one platform upgraded and the functionality stopped between the two.

### Replaced the chaos without adding new problems

It's become the default for team email, which says enough. Duplicate replies were a recurring headache before and that problem is essentially gone. There was an adjustment period getting everyone up to speed, but once it clicked it became part of the routine without much friction. Keeping tabs on active conversations and making sure nothing gets responded to twice has been smooth ever since the initial setup settled in.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The comment feature earns its place, adding context and notes directly to a thread keeps things tidy in a way that long reply chains never manage. Task assignment during busy stretches is also quick and straightforward without needing a separate tool for it.

#### Cons

Default notification settings come out of the box a bit aggressive, everyone ends up needing to dial them back on their own. The mobile app is solid for day-to-day use but falls short of the desktop version when you need the full feature set.

### Collections stopped falling through the cracks

Nearly a year into using it for collections and accounts receivable, and the results show. Fewer things slip through unattended, follow-ups actually happen on time, and we're getting paid faster because of it. Another thing worth mentioning - when a newer team member runs into a complicated collections situation, escalating it to someone more experienced is clean and simple. No awkward forwarding chains, no re-explaining the whole backstory.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Having the full payment history in front of you before reaching out makes a real difference - you can read the pattern and adjust how you approach each client instead of going in blind every time. The tagging system we set up around aging buckets (30 days, 60 days, payment plans, disputed) means the urgent accounts are always front and center rather than buried in a flat list.

#### Cons

The mobile app covers the basics well enough, but there's a gap between what it can do and what the desktop version offers. When I need to dig into an account away from my desk, that gap becomes noticeable.

### One platform for both sides of the ledger

- Overall rating: 5/5
- Reviewer: Sakshi M.
- Verified reviewer: Yes
- Industry: Translation and Localization
- Company size: 201-500 employees
- Product usage: Used daily for more than 2 years
- Reviewed: June 2026
- Review source details: This review was submitted organically. No incentive was offered

Nearly eight months handling both payables and receivables out of the same platform, and the before-and-after is stark. Everything used to live in personal email accounts connected by endless forwarding chains - not really a system, just organized chaos. Having actual structure around how payments flow in and out has made the whole department run more smoothly.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Managing AP and AR simultaneously means constantly shifting gears between two very different workflows. Having separate inboxes for each function while staying in a single platform is what makes it workable - the old setup required jumping between accounts constantly, and this just doesn't.

#### Cons

The ERP integration needs work. Right now we're still manually moving payment information between Missive and our accounting system after conversations close out, which defeats some of the efficiency gains elsewhere.

### Great for shared inboxes, takes a bit of setup

- Industry: Accounting
- Company size: 11-50 employees
- Product usage: Used daily for more than 2 years
- Reviewed: May 2026

Overall, it has improved how we manage communication as a team. It reduces confusion and helps ensure emails are handled on time.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Missive is very helpful for teams that handle a lot of emails. It keeps everything organized with shared inboxes, and the ability to assign conversations and add internal notes makes teamwork much smoother.

#### Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve in the beginning, especially when setting up rules and workflows. Some features are not immediately intuitive.

### Finally, full visibility across every IT request

- Overall rating: 5/5

About ten months using this across the IT department and it's solved a problem we'd been working around for years - client and internal requests disappearing into individual inboxes with no visibility for the rest of the team. Onboarding junior technicians has also gotten easier since they can see exactly how senior engineers handle vendor escalations and complex support cases before handling them independently. Remote troubleshooting coordination in particular has improved significantly.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The shared inbox structure works really well for an IT team juggling helpdesk tickets, vendor communications, and internal escalations all at once. Being able to assign incoming requests to the right person based on their specialty - networking, security, systems - means nothing sits unowned for long. The internal comment feature is especially useful for documenting troubleshooting steps before a response goes out to the end user.

#### Cons

Wish there was tighter integration with our ticketing system. Right now there's some manual crossover between Missive and the helpdesk platform that ideally wouldn't exist.

### Made tax season way more manageable

- Overall rating: 5/5
- Reviewer: Asim A.
- Verified reviewer: Yes
- Industry: Real Estate
- Company size: 51-200 employees
- Product usage: Used daily for less than 2 years
- Reviewed: June 2026
- Review source details: This review was submitted organically. No incentive was offered

Started using this last filing season and honestly it took some of the edge off during our craziest months. Used to have client stuff all over the place - people doing the same work twice or clients getting different answers from different preparers. Now everyone's looking at the same info and we can actually coordinate whether we're in the office or working from home. Definitely continuing with it

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

When tax deadlines hit, we're drowning in client questions, missing documents, and last-minute extension requests. Missive helps us stay on top of everything when it's total chaos. Being able to route specific clients to the right preparer - whether they need corporate help, individual returns, or someone who handles complicated situations - makes the whole operation run smoother.

#### Cons

Searching for particular tax forms or document types across all our client emails could be better - sometimes takes longer than I'd like to find what I need.

### Great visibility into team communication

- Overall rating: 5/5
- Reviewer: Aman K.
- Verified reviewer: Yes
- Industry: Education Management
- Company size: 2-10 employees
- Product usage: Used daily for less than 12 months
- Reviewed: May 2026
- Review source details: This review was submitted organically. No incentive was offered

We rolled out Missive across the accounting department about ten months ago. It's given me the oversight I need while empowering my team to work independently. The transparency has improved accountability - people know their work is visible, which maintains quality standards.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The ability to jump into conversations when needed - either to assist with complex issues or ensure compliance - is invaluable. I particularly appreciate being able to review draft responses to sensitive matters (disputed invoices, collection issues, audit responses) before they're sent.

#### Cons

The permission hierarchy could be more sophisticated for larger teams with multiple levels of authority.
